Introduction To Sam And Linda Ensor

We are fortunate to live in East Tennessee, in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains.  We were both born and raised in Knoxville.  We have been privileged to travel some, but it is always nice to get "back home."  Our four children were raised in a Christian home.  Not one of them ever asked, "are we going to church today?"  Did they get too much "religion" and rebel when they left home?   Of course not.  Now they are all saved and manifest a testimony of their faith.   Jesus Christ has been at the center of our home life.
Linda is the youngest of three children.  Her oldest brother, Walt and his wife live in Montgomery, Alabama.  Walt is a Colonel, retired, USAF, and Ed.D.  Her next oldest brother, Leonard, is a retired vascular surgeon and lives in our area.  I am the last living of eight siblings.  My younger brother, Charles, a retired pastor, passed away recently.

A Note From The Preacher:

An old Southern colloquialism best describes that when a man convinces a lady much better than he deserves to wed, he has "married over his head."  I am that man.

Lenora Melinda (Hines) Ensor is my wife.  She is intelligent, educated and articulate.  When Linda talks, I listen.  She is a retired special-education teacher after thirty-five years in the classroom, and in special-education, home-bound instruction.

Linda is a talented pianist, Sunday School teacher, and the long-suffering editor of my writing, having proof-read all of my books, with attendant punctuation corrections.  Praise God, I haven't received a failing grade (yet).  She faithfully permits my East Tennessee dialect to survive the editing process.

Linda is my best friend and consort in the ministry.  I can count on her to provide an honest assessment of my sermons.  A girl with a keen sense of humor, she recently reminded me, on my way to the pulpit in a local church, that an article had noted that "the average Baptist congregation has an attention span of approximately 23 minutes."  I got the message.

What's Happening Currently?

At Home:     We are enjoying a beautiful spring in East Tennessee.  It's May, and  we are dealing with thunderstorms and flowering trees.  It is grass-cutting time again, and with 1-1/2 acres to mow, I've stayed busy with my "homework."

At Church:     We recently moved our church membership to Temple Baptist Church, Powell, Tennessee, home to Crown College.  With a large membership and more than 5,000 students enrolled in the college, Temple is the largest church we've been a part of.  In part, because my own educational studies are requiring more of my time (see below), the Lord has put us where we can worship and enjoy wonderful preaching, along with music which features the old hymns of the faith.  Not having to answer to numerous church duties permits us to maintain our own schedule of preaching in area churches.

At School:     The past three years have been busy; I finished my undergraduate degree from Andersonville Theological Seminary, in Camilla, Georgia.  This winter and spring I completed the Master's graduate degree in Biblical Exposition.  I have now completed my studies in the doctorate program, earning my Doctor of Biblical Exposition degree.  To God be the glory.  Now, several books await completion.
